Learning everything about editing through the videos shown in class

Image
While watching the two videos, I started noticing how editing plays a huge role in storytelling. At first, I didn’t really think much about how things were put together, but after analyzing them, I realized how every little choice impacts how a scene feels. In the Katniss Everdeen scene, when she saves her sister, there’s a lot of quick cuts and close-ups that really highlight the emotion. The shot-reverse shot and eyeline matching stood out to me because they made everything feel more intense. The cutting was also important because it controlled the pacing, making the moment feel urgent. I also noticed different types of cuts, like jump cuts that added energy, match cuts that smoothly transitioned between actions, and cross-cutting that built suspense by switching between different moments. These choices made the scene feel more dramatic and heightened the emotional stakes. Then with The Princess Bride scene, the mise-en-scène really stood out to me. The colors, costumes, and framing...

Finishing up my magazine review

Image
While looking into my magazine, finally revising it for the final assignment and turn in, I found minor details that I was able to fix and improve my grade upon. I also discovered how to organize some things better according to what Mr. Fagen had taught us in class. Using the resourceful and helpful comments I was able to improve my magazine, and I was also able to be aware of something I kept doing which was run-ons. On my magazine double page spread, I had this problem of having a sentence run-on to the next page which looked ugly and unprofessional. I was able to fix this due to Mr. Fagen's comment on it where I ended up fixing it making it look much better.  As i turned in that assignment, I still had upcoming assignment of my final review for my table of contents. I wasn't really fit with my design at first so I had to fix a couple of things in order to have a good table of contents I was proud of. I had also looked around the class for inspiration plus on social media, ...

How I figured out how to design my magazine.

Image
When trying to figure out how to design my cover, table of contents, and double page spread. I did a lot of researching and tested out many examples I found online, plus some templates that I found available on Canva which is the website I used to design my magazine. Already knowing my topic it was difficult finding one that suited the style I was going for of sleek yet informative so I found different templates and examples and tried replicating them as well as possible with my original information and pictures. When trying out templates I ended up only using them for my cover where I found a really good one that provided space for many images plus I had to improvise as I added my own popups and teasers so that it would check all the boxes a magazine cover needed. I didn't want my cover to be like those magazines that were overcrowded with information and instead wanted a sleek yet informative one.  After finishing my cover I proceeded to do my double page spread where I fou...

My journey of revising my double page spread

Image
When I first started making it I changed topics many times, I was debating on what to make and came up with ideas like jobs, immigration, and even the environment, but I had finally settled on animals and specifically on how animals would interact with people. I had to make 3 stories about different topics all relating to animals interacting with people so I came up with my main story which was about dogs in foster. I wanted to give the reader information with statistics and with real life animals and how they struggled to maybe even persuading them into getting a dog and saving ones life.  For my 2nd story I decided to talk about how animals were in zoos, and how some zoos treated animals amazingly but some treated these animals horrible and cruel. I explained how these animals received care and rehabilitation as well as food, water, shelter, and etc. Then I moved to how some zoos neglect animals, and don't provide them the health or the social status they require. For my 3r...
